CADDO COUNTY, OK — A district attorney from Oklahoma is under fire seizing over $1.3 million in alleged drug money using a private security firm to conduct roadside drug searches along a 21 mile stretch of Interstate 40.

Prosecutors have dismissed all criminal cases stemming from the stops, which were conducted by private security firm Desert Snow beginning in January of this year after being hired by Caddo County District Attorney Jason Hicks to provide training for the county’s drug task force.

WA: Ex-Cop Pleads Guilty to Fondling Woman Accused of Smoking Marijuana

June 26th

AUBURN, WA – In Auburn, Washington, a former Auburn police officer pleaded guilty Monday to fondling a woman he had pulled over for a traffic violation and then accused of smoking marijuana.

John Michael Clemmons, 50, went down for a January 2012 incident in which he pulled over a 24-year-old woman who had pulled out of a bar parking lot. After following her to her home, where she parked her car, he had her take a field sobriety test, which she passed.

Clemmons handcuffed the woman in the back of his patrol car and told her she could be taken to jail, that he smelled marijuana, and that he needed to search her.

The woman said that while she was still handcuffed, he felt underneath her bra and clothing below her waist. She said he also used his flashlight to look inside her pants.

Clemmons then asked for her phone number and if he could enter her residence, then grabbed her buttocks when she said no.

The woman told him she felt that he may be trying to arrest her for prostitution or offering a sexual act, but he replied that he wouldn’t arrest her for that and said he was off duty.

Court records and a police statement, however,  make clear he was on duty and in uniform.  Clemmons did not record the stop or notify dispatch.

He pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and two years deferred adjudication.

Auburn Police said in a release Monday that while probable . . . . . READ MORE

Rogue NYPD Narcotics Team Cost City Over $1.5M in Settlements

May 22nd

NEW YORK, NY — In a city that has established itself as the “marijuana bust capital of the world” with a  police department under fire for racially biased  ”stop and frisk” searches, a Daily News investigation has now revealed  that a rogue Brooklyn narcotics team has cost New York over $1.5 million in settlements, even while the officer in charge of the team was being promoted.

NYPD Lt. Daniel Sbarra and his rogue narc squad have been hit with nearly 60 lawsuits, with at least 15 cases involving him personally.

Those lawsuits include charges ranging from racial profiling slinging racial slurs to the unprovoked beating of a man in front of his young son.

The city’s Law Department, who defends the cases, seemed unconcerned.

“Being named in a lawsuit or settlement is not an accurate barometer for evaluating an officer’s conduct,” the Law Department said in a statement. “For example, an officer who works in high-impact roles, such as narcotics or emergency services, is more likely to be sued in his or her line of duty than an officer in a less confrontational role.”

Lt. Sbarra has also reportedly been the target of five to 1. . . . . READ MORE
