Legalization Myths Of Marijuana

When it comes to the legalization of marijuana there are many myths that float around the web and most of the time they seem to be backed by some very powerful facts. But if you are going to believe anything it is best you do a lot of research and take all of it as just statements given by friends.

Many of the facts change year to year and are different from city to city. So having the most up to date information is not so easy to say the least.

Here are some numbers so you can see how much information can change year to year. Percentage of 12th-Graders Who Have Used Marijuana

As you can see the numbers go up and go down without the laws changing much at all, so at the end of the day it is up to each individual weather to take marijuana and if they are using today they may stop as their lives change.

Here are a few of the main myths going around the internet, if you know of anything we are missing feel free to contact us and we will add it to the list ASAP. Myth #1: If legal marijuana growers will be able to sell their harvest, so it will be drug dealers that end up making a lot of money. Fact: Well we will never be able to 100% stop people from growing their own marijuana in house, the legalization of marijuana will make it so people will be able to get it from trusted sources. This way we can make sure the end product going out to the public will be safer and cleaner than what you may end up getting on the street. Myth #2: Smoking rates will increase among teenagers. Fact: In 2001 49.0% of people in the 12th-grade have used marijuana in their life and only 5.8% of them used on a day to day base. This tells us that at the end of each day it is a personal choice that everyone makes. The best we can do is look at things like drinking and smoking cigarettes to get a idea of what the teens of America will do. Myth #3: Legalizing medical marijuana without the FDA approval is very premature. Fact: There are a lot of drugs out there that have not got the FDA approval that are used today, many of which you may have used. Marijuana not having the FDA approval does not mean it is not an ineffective drug to use in treatment. Here is a list of some drugs that have yet to get approval.

  • Fen-Phen
  • Aspirin
  • Redux
  • Phenergan
  • Prostigmin
  • Zofran
  • Stamina Rx
  • Bowtrol
  • Nicocure
  • Melatrol

Another reason many drugs do not get passed by the FDA is due to fear that there might be long term or unseen side effects but in this case marijuana has been safely used by millions of people around the world.

At the end of the day many people will believe what ever needed to make their case, just make sure you do your research before making up your mind.
